National campaign calls on companies to strengthen capacity of nonprofits to meet community needs; companies respond with $1 billion in pledges
 

Washington, D.C., May 2, 2011 — Grameen Foundation’s Bankers without Borders® initiative and the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO) today announced a new collaboration to support microfinance and microenterprise development organizations in the United States. This alliance will enable more than 400 organizations to benefit from the skills and experience of the more than 6,200 highly-skilled active and retired business professionals in Bankers without Border’s global volunteer reserve corps.

Bankers without Borders®, Grameen Foundation’s initiative to expand volunteerism in the microfinance and technology-for-development sectors, announced today the availability of $150,000 in seed capital to microfinance associations and other pro-poor organizations interested in helping bring Bankers without Borders volunteer services to Asia and the Americas.

J.P. Morgan Supports Bankers without Borders® with a Three-Year, $3 Million Grant

Grameen Foundation today announced it is expanding its Bankers without Borders® (BwB) initiative, which taps senior working professionals for short-term, field-based or remote skills-based projects supporting microfinance institutions (MFIs) and technology-for-development initiatives. The program will be supported by a three-year, $3 million grant from JPMorgan Chase Foundation, an inaugural sponsor of the program in 2008.
