When you join Bankers without Borders®, you have the opportunity to choose from virtual projects, engagements in developing countries and many other ways to offer your expertise to help us empower the world’s poorest people, most often women, to escape poverty. We look to our volunteers as outside experts that offer industry experience and insight that will help Grameen Foundation be a more efficient and powerful organization with programs that move individuals toward economic self-sufficiency.

As a member of Bankers without Borders®, you gain access to training and professional development opportunities, receive updates on new volunteer projects, and join a network of professionals who share your passion for microfinance and other innovative solutions to fight global poverty.

How to Get Started as a Volunteer

There are two steps that we require of all Bankers without Borders® applicants:

1) Complete your Bankers without Borders® profile.
This application asks for your contact information, what you are doing now, and what sort of skills you offer. You will be asked to upload a copy of your resume. Please note that your privacy is protected and that you can save your partially completed application–you do not need to fill out the entire form at one time. However, we cannot process your application until it is fully completed.

2) Participate in our "Introduction to Microfinance" course, which is available on Bankers without Borders Learning Center

Once you have completed your profile, you can express interest in specific Bankers without Borders projects that match your skill set. Alternatively, Bankers without Borders will notify you of specific project requiring your expertise. The “best qualified” volunteers are interviewed and selected by the volunteer project managers, who are either Grameen Foundation staff or employees of one of our partner organizations. If not selected, you will be notified and remain in the Bankers without Borders database. You can also apply for new projects of interest to you and/or Bankers without Borders will contact you when an assignment meets your skills and availability.
